(I think it would be more persuasive if you put this in the past, just like you are telling about a story that happened already)

Right away, the father hurried/ rushed to find the car key to take his children to the doctor while his wife was looking into her bag for something to give first aid to the child. The man drove the car to the nearest doctor's house.

It seemed that you have forgotten to use some words such as "thumb, nose, right". I have put them swh in ur writing, Pls find them to see if it's okie :)
