1. Look at the information on both the websites. What should a good introduction contain?

The introduction should contain a few general statements about the topic to give a background to the essay and attract more attention from readers. Moreover, the reason that you want to write need to be explained.

2. On the university of Manchester page, look at…
a. The tense are used common include present simple, present continuos, present perfect.
b. Give some examples.
- The introduction plays an important role in the success of an essay.
- The proportion of juvenile delinquency has becoming increase more and more seriously.
- The citizens have paid more attention about the behaviour of the new Minister.

3. Why do you think planing is important when you are writing an introduction?
- Firstly, it helps you brainstorm and gives a structure for your essay.
- Secondly, you may forget what you want to write. Thus, planing helps you not only remember your ideas but also arrange the contain of your essay.

Institute: where has a particular purpose.
Further education: BrE education for ppl who have left school.
Higher education: education at universities.
Major: main subject
Module: a course of study has been divided into.
Seminar: a small group of students and teacher discuss a topic.
Tutorial: a period of discussion and teaching.
