Suffixes and prefixes

1. Suffixes
A suffix consists of one or more syllables placed at the end of a word.
Example: survice --> survival, betray --> betrayal, press --> pressure, pursue --> pursuit, etc.
- Government has passed a cancellation with the import of car.
- The evolutionary of high technology will bring about many benefits to enhance our living standard such as means of transport, mess of media.
- Our task is to produce the goods which are saleable not for exhibition.
- Surprisingly, when we worked together I realized that we have many coincidental opinions.

2. Prefixes
A prefix consists of one or more syllables such as un-, pre-, supper- that are added to
Prefix + Rootword = Word formed
Example: Coeducation, ex-member, foremost, misconduct, predict, prehistoric, retreat, suppervisor
- I met my ex-boyfriend at the bus station yesterday.
- My flight was postponed. Thus, I came there late.
- I hope when I come back I will work for a multinational company.
- Can you turn on the subtitles? because I cannot hear clearly.


Common connective words.
1. Addition: Similarly, Furthermor, Moreover, As well as, not only...but, Interestingly, Needless to say...
2. Sequence: Firstly, Secondly, Last but not least....
3. Contrast: On the other hand, In spite of, On the contrary, Otherwise, Alternatively, In stead of...
4. Consequence: Consequently, As a result, Therefore, Thus, Eventually, Admittedly...
5. Example: For instance, In particular, namely...
6. Summary: In conclusion, To sum up, lastly...
